World Cup: USA were ‘screwed’ by Balogun’s red card — Rubio

United States Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, has criticised the red card shown to American striker Folarin Balogun during the country’s World Cup victory over Bosnia and Herzegovina, insisting the decision unfairly disadvantaged the team.
Rubio made the remarks on Thursday, a day after Balogun was sent off in the USA’s 2-0 Round of 32 win over Bosnia.
The dismissal means the striker will be suspended for the United States’ Round of 16 clash against Belgium.
Reacting to the incident, Rubio said the USA had been “screwed” by the decision and called for an appeal in a bid to overturn the suspension and make Balogun available for the knockout fixture.
