US cities that hosted the 2026 FIFA World Cup are pursuing the soccer governing body over the millions they were promised.
According to The Athletic, these cities believe they were entitled to receive substantial payments from FIFA for hosting the tournament.
Prior to the 2026 FIFA World Cup, FIFA President Gianni Infantino declared that each of the 11 cities across the US would receive $1 million each for their role in hosting the tournament.
This payment was described as a ‘legacy contribution,’ intended to fund the construction of mini-pitches and support various ‘social projects.’
