Cristiano Ronaldo has confirmed he is retiring from international football, ending a record-breaking career with Portugal.
The 41-year-old announced the decision in a social media post on Thursday, saying the moment had arrived to “pass it on to the future.” He described the choice as difficult.
Ronaldo said he will hand back the No 7 shirt after the November international break.
He departs with 234 appearances for Portugal and 146 goals, holding the all-time records for both international appearances and international goals.
