Cross River: Two Dead, Millions Lost As Tankers Explode In Odukpani

Two people have been killed after two petroleum tankers conveying diesel were involved in a fatal accident along the Odukpani Local Government Area Secretariat in Cross River State.
The accident, which occurred in the early hours of Sunday, October 4, 2026, caused both tankers to overturn and spill their contents, triggering an explosion and fire that engulfed nearby shops, buildings and vehicles.
Shops and goods worth millions of naira were destroyed in the inferno, which broke out following the crash.
Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Cross River State Police Command, ASP Sunday Eitokpah Akata, said two people died in the accident.
