The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has denied allegations that its operatives arrested or brutalised staff of the University of Uyo Teaching Hospital during a recent incident that sparked outrage among Nigerians.
The Commission’s Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale said on Friday that, the anti-graft agency said its operatives were at the hospital on Tuesday, May 12, 2026 strictly for administrative purposes relating to the authentication of a document and not for any arrest operation.
The Commission said contrary to reports circulating in the media and on social platforms, no hospital worker was arrested or detained.
