The Rivers State House of Assembly has suspended all legislative matters to address the ravaging floods submerging parts of the state.
The decision was taken at the 55th legislative sitting of the Fourth Session after the House adopted a Matter of Urgent Public Importance raised by the Deputy Majority Leader, Linda Somiari-Stewart.
Rising under Order 26 of the Standing Orders, Somiari-Stewart painted a grave picture of the flood situation, saying residents’ property and means of livelihood have been destroyed.
