Jingir defends Muslim-Muslim ticket advocacy, rejects calls for apology

Islamic cleric Sani Jingir has defended his call for Muslims to support a Muslim-Muslim political ticket in Nigeria, saying he has no regrets over the remarks and will not apologise.
Jingir spoke in an interview with BBC Hausa following his address at a mass wedding organised by the Kano State Government for 1,500 couples, where he urged Muslims to vote in accordance with their numerical strength.
The cleric said his position was driven by his religious convictions and was not an endorsement of President Bola Tinubu, former President Muhammadu Buhari or any particular politician.
