NDLEA dismantles largest meth lab, arrests 9,769 suspects in 5 months

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) says it dismantled Nigeria’s largest clandestine methamphetamine laboratory, arrested 9,769 suspects and secured 1,778 convictions between January and May.
Director of Media and Advocacy, NDLEA, Femi Babafemi, disclosed this during a joint security news briefing by defence, security, response and law enforcement agencies in Abuja, yesterday.
At the briefing organised by the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), Babafemi said operatives conducted 1,106 operations nationwide, dismantled 144 criminal gangs and seized more than 517 tonnes of illicit drugs without recording any casualty among its personnel.
