Nigerian Woman Raises Concern Over Delay In Son’s Igbo Name Approval In Denmark

A Nigerian woman living in Denmark has shared her frustration over a delay in registering her infant son’s Igbo name, saying authorities questioned the name because it was unfamiliar to them.
In a video shared online, the woman said her son’s first name, William, had been approved, while his second name, Ebuka, was still awaiting approval.
According to her account, officials asked the family to provide evidence showing that Ebuka was a traditionally used name. She explained that Ebuka is a common Igbo name and is also used as a shortened form of Chukwuebuka.
