For years, Nigeria’s counterterrorism efforts were often judged by the number of military offensives launched or territories reclaimed from insurgents. While those metrics remain important, contemporary security experts increasingly agree that the real battlefield against terrorism is intelligence. The ability to anticipate attacks before they happen, dismantle terrorist networks, disrupt logistics, intercept communications and coordinate multinational operations has become the defining feature of successful national security architecture.
